Frame suffixes

SuffixMeans
TCurrent standard (1964 on) dimensions
UOlder, pre-1964 rerate: bigger frame, same HP
TSShort shaft, for belt-free direct coupling (2-pole)
CC-face: tapped holes in the end shield
DD-flange: through holes, larger flange
YNon-standard mounting — see the maker's drawing
ZNon-standard shaft extension
JJet pump shaft, C-face
JM / JPClose-coupled pump shaft, C-face

The first two digits of a T frame ÷ 4 = the shaft height D in inches: a 184T has its shaft 4.5 in up. The third digit is the foot length — 182T and 184T share everything except 2F.

D = shaft height, 2E = foot holes across the shaft, 2F = along it, BA = shaft shoulder to the nearest foot holes, H = foot hole, U = shaft diameter, N-W = usable shaft length. HP is the usual rating for a 4-pole (1800 rpm) TEFC motor in that frame.

Dimensions to NEMA MG 1 Part 4 for T frames; 56 is the fractional frame, with slotted feet. Open (ODP) and 2-pole motors often carry more HP in the same frame. The maker's dimension drawing wins over this sheet.
