Scientific Notation Converter
Convert between decimal, scientific and engineering notation.
How it works
Scientific notation writes a number as a coefficient between 1 and 10 times a power of ten. Engineering notation restricts the exponent to multiples of three, so it lines up with the SI prefixes — kilo, mega, milli, micro.
Significant figures count from the first non-zero digit. Leading zeros never count; trailing zeros after a decimal point always do.
